Avignon to Nice
a classic cycle tour
We have now run our Avignon to Nice Tour twice. The first time we completed the trip in four days. Second time around we tweaked things to add an extra day which had the benefit of not just allowing us ‘to smell the flowers’ a little more but afforded those who wanted to a double ascent of Mont Ventoux. Whichever itinerary you choose though this is a real must do for the cycling connoisseur. As a 5-day challenge, covering some 250 miles, it offered a wide range of contrasting scenery. From historic Avignon, we passed through lavender fields, and onto the Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon via a series of dramatic gorges, not to mention the iconic Mont Ventoux. A challenging but manageable and deeply rewarding cycle tour – designed for cyclists with a sense of history as well as adventure.
