a vintage cycling tour
Stunning scenery and a fantastic climate would be reason enough to join a Tuscan cycle tour. Add in the heady scent of the region’s famous Chianti wines and the fact that its equally infamous gravel roads reek of cycling history, and you have a ‘must-do’ for every true cyclist at some point in their cycling careers.
Our Tuscan cycle tour puts you at the heart of it all. Our base is Radda in Chianti, a picture-perfect town of warm honey-coloured stone and green shutters, still encircled by its historic protective walls, about 15 kilometres north of Siena. You will ride out each day on cypress-lined roads past grand villas and stone castles, into the surrounding hills which are striped with vineyards. The gradients are mostly gradual, but the riding is not to be underestimated. Add in a few kilometres of the white gravel roads made famous by the Strade Bianche race, and you have a challenge to satisfy most cyclists. A challenge to be rewarded at each day’s end with a glass of the local wine perhaps?

“On behalf of the four of us, I would just like to thank you for another epic Cranker Tour, this time in Tuscany. Both you and Matt looked after us superbly from the moment we touched down in Pisa and although I know that I sometimes joked about the “name not a number“ strap-line, it truly does reflect what Viva Velo has to offer. The riding was superb . . . [and] everything worked incredibly smoothly . . . this was entirely down to both your preparation and attention to detail. Well done to both of you”. Malcom Dunbar – Old Crankers CC
