Client Reviews and Case Studies

At Viva Velo we take our clients’ feedback very seriously. We have built a reputation for going the extra mile to ensure they have a great time on our trips but we always welcome constructive comments on how we can become even better at providing tailored cycling tours and holidays for all levels of experience. And, it seems, we are doing something right, as many of our clients return year after year. Click below to find out more.

Below you can read just a few client case studies.

SMBC/MARLBOUROUGH PARTNERS CORPORATE TRIP

Recommended by a client who had previously travelled with us on another tour we were commissioned to pitch for a corporate trip for a Japanese bank and their partner. We came up with three initial ideas for a potential trip in an illustrated proposal from which the client chose the Milan San Remo point-to-point tour. We then refined this option and produced the following online brochure for the client to use to advertise the trip to their clients. SMBC & Malborough Partners Milan San Remo Brochure.

The clients thoroughly enjoyed their trip and we received a second commission from them for a similar corporate trip - this time to Tuscany.

“Dyll and the team put a fantastic array of well thought out, bespoke options for us to choose from. Advice and guidance was to hand in selecting the best route that suited our Group. The trip itself was amazing and great feedback from everyone who took part. Catered for a mix of levels. Some great little touches on the last day as we rolled up the last hill at San Remo!”

‘tour of Group k’ BESPOKE charity ride

We were approached to offer support and route design services for a bespoke charity cycle ride linking a multiplicity of Waitrose stores across the north and midland of England in order to raise funds for Beating Bowel Cancer (now Bowel Cancer UK). This we duly did having evaluated the participant group which comprised cyclists of widely varying experience. To ensure their safety and enjoyment we provided to first aid trained ride leaders to help navigate and deal with mechanical issues en route.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for a great 4 days. You both worked incredibly hard and made the experience for all those taking part from Waitrose one of the most enjoyable experiences of their lives. I know that managing a large team of varying abilities and personalities brings with it its own challenges and you managed this brilliantly. I have to say in all my years of events and fundraising it will stay with me as one of the most memorable for many reasons including the fun, banter, team spirit, lavish pit stops and so much more. I am very glad that you played a big part in this.”

bespoke private tour for a small self-guiding group

Peter Smart had previously arranged many cycling trips for himself and his small group of friends. Having joined our email course giving our best advice as to how to do this he got in touch to see if we could assist him organising a trip for his group to the Dolomites and Italian Alps. After an initial briefing call we decided that such an experienced group could happily self-guide but we could best help them by arranging the logistics (route planning, itinerary, luggage transfers and hotel bookings) for the trip. We put together a costed proposal which then became The Smart Italian Tour 2022 brochure

I can strongly recommend the VV service - from detailed consultation about what we wanted (Dyll spent a lot of time exploring options and making suggestions, even before we had made any commitment to use the company) to the routes, hotels and transport during the trip. Although we only paid for a non-supported tour, we did contact VV a couple of times when we had a problem on the road. They responded immediately and helped us sort things out - even though this was not part of the deal.
Thoroughly recommended

multiple bespoke tours for st margaret’s cycle club

We were approached initially by St Margaret’s CC to organise a trip for them to Mallorca in 2017. This we duly did for a mixed ability group of 20 or so of their members. That same year they approached us to organise a London to Paris ride and then in 2018 they commissioned us to arrange a bespoke trip and we put together a proposal centred on Sardinia which we recommended as a great place to suit their group. They chose this point-to-point tour. We must have been doing something right, as in 2019 they asked us to arrange another trip - this time to Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro which became our fabulous Adriatic Tour. And finally - after a hiatus for Covid - last year their group was the inspiration behind our epic Dome to Dome ride from London to Rome.

“My husband and I have been on several cycling tours with Viva Velo since our initial experience in Majorca in 2017. They have always been great fun and have really supported and understood our various needs both as a couple and within the group we have cycled with. We have asked them to plan bespoke rides for our group of friends, such as London to Paris and they were brilliant. The accommodation has been excellent both when we have stayed in one place and also on point to point trips. They take a lot of time to think about the cyclists needs on the road and also how to add an element of fun and companionship in the down time. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and really look forward to our next experience with Dyll and the team.”

multiple happy mallorca camp clients

Mallorca is what we call our ‘gateway drug’ to Viva Velo. So many people have joined us there and gone on to become regular clients that we do not have space here to list them all. We are particularly proud that many of them have joined us as relative beginners and gone on to develop not only a love for cycling but a real talent for it too. Here are just a couple of examples.

“Where do I start? Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! Dyll and his team at Viva Velo are the business. In the course of the week . . . I went from pootling Sunday afternoon rider with an aversion to hills to an epic final day in which we took on Coll de Sa Bataia, Coll dels Reis/Sa Calobra and then Coll de Femenia. I have not stopped smiling since!”
— Amy Williams - recently representing GB at the World Age Group Aquabike Championships

And finally this from Sarah Odell who has been twice to Mallorca joining us as a newbie first in 2018 and then last year as an established triathlete . . .
